Burberry opens at Yorkdale
Gasp! It's true...Burberry has opened shop in our Yorkdale mall. Read more here.

It is a shame that Burberry's first Toronto shop will not be on Bloor Street or generally in the Yorkville area. I'm not opposed to malls but I prefer things within walking distance and I definitely prefer the outdoor shop-front experience. Luckily, according to Toronto Life, October may be my month as it seems Burberry will hit Yorkville just in time for true trench coat weather.
Happy shopping!

SALE: TNT BLU @ Hazelton Lanes
The Final Spring & Summer "Explosion" Sale is on now at TNT in Hazelton Lanes and will end on August 31. TNT sells wonderful and unique pieces from J Brand, EDUN, James Perse, R&R and so many names that are so ahead of the game I obviously can't name them.
Here's the official flyer I received just yesterday:
It's a bit hard to read but keep in mind that everything priced $300-349 is only $99! 70% off for $350-699 while $700 and up is 75% off. Unbelievable. That makes a $400 priced item become $120 while a $700 priced item become $175.

SALE at Browns Shoes

There is a HUGE sale going on at Browns Shoes right now. You can check it out in store (Eaton Centre, Yorkdale, Hazelton Lanes and Bloor Street...) or check it out here online.
I have shopped at Browns since I was a little girl and I continue to shop there because of the quality as well as the selection. You will always get a nice, well-made shoe at Browns. You will also always get a selection of styles far superior to most all mall-fare. Browns has shoes inspired by those of masters you will see at Holt's but won't scream "cheap knock-offs" to all your friends. If anything, they will be wondering where you found such an original shoe!

Gucci Fall Winter 2009 Handbags
The summer is underway and it's time once again to fantasize and/or plan for the perfect addition to your handbag collection. Enter Gucci's 2009 Fall Winter handbag lineup care of Neiman Marcus.
There are some wonderfully classic styles such as the New Jackie Bag that is available in three different looks:

As well as the Crest Boule Tote that I would use for every possible occasion despite its appropriateness if I were to get my hands on one:

One of my favourites is the Icon Bit Medium Tote:

It has an edge to it but manages to scream "fun" at the same time. Wouldn't it be hot to rock this at Virgin Fest late this summer in spite of any inclement weather or d-bag revelers?
However, I must say that the Galaxy Medium Shoulder Bag looks like a PVC/vinyl purse I've seen many a pseudo-rocker ladies sport for the past 4 years. Y'all know someone with a similar handbag to this and it ain't pretty. Gucci, spare us all and sentence this 'lil hobo offender to life with no chance of parole!

the first two: The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien
It would seem proper to wait for the week to be out before posting a hasty review of Conan at his new time but I could not wait. I won't claim to be an objective reviewer but I think there are some wonderful things developing at Universal.
When Conan walked out Monday night there was nervousness and excitement in the air. Some strange writer at CanWest actually complained of Conan's visible butterflies. These butterflies really expressed O'Brien's humility. He has a reverence for the opportunity he's been given and I believe he and NBC want to play this transition intelligently.
Some have called Monday's episode "Conan Lite" which is fair given the high strung antics of the former Late Night show. This may be an apt assessment but I agree that it is a smart move. His bits, including cruising in his beat-up Ford Taurus, oozed the same zany attitude but were overall accessible to a wider range of viewers.
O'Brien has been unapologetic in stating since his last Late Night broadcast that he will not change for his new time slot and it is clear he hasn't. Tuesday night's programme had another taped bit wherein Conan hit up a wig shop on the less desirable "Rodeo Rd.". The mocking mannequin laugh was my favourite part but in essence each wig O'Brien sported allowed him to up the quirk factor.
Conan mentioned tonight that the stage he is performing on is Stage 1 where Jack Benny hosted his show. I love Jack Benny and I think it's wonderfully fitting for Conan to bring his self-deprecating style of humour to the old skin-flint's haunt. Jack Benny was a true master at poking fun at himself and it will be no time at all before Conan settles in comfortably at Universal Studios to continue to do the same.
